Yep, Twitter is giving it’s traditional, simple layout a huge overhaul over the next few weeks. Some users can already see the blue stripe across the top of their profile page that says “Psst, the new version of Twitter is here”.

At first, I’ll admit, I wasn’t a fan. Possibly the furthest thing from a fan… but I’ve gotten used to it now, and can now actually find value in the new Twitter. More on that later.

Although I’ve come to terms with Twitters new layout, the one thing that continues to irk me is that all those lovely, beautifully branded backgrounds are pretty much obsolete. The new Twitter layout is much wider than the old layout, so unfortunately it leaves very little room to show off your brand and other places your followers can find you around the web.
